Jason Gardner tells both written and visual stories. He specializes in music, portraits, and travel. He is currently documenting traditional musicians and culture in Brazil’s Northeast states.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, his writing and photography have been published by Photo District News, Time Out New York, New York Magazine, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone Brazil, The New York Daily News, SPIN Magazine, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Oxford University Press, Harvard University’s Revista Magazine, Relix Magazine, PR Week Magazine, and Global Rhythm Magazine.
He has completed assignments for Stern Magazine, Gourmet Magazine, Epitaph Records, Putumayo Records, AFS International, Adelphi University, Haymarket Media, The Newsmarket, Red Rooster Group, Darling Design Group, and various corporations, nonprofits, and design companies.
Jason was recently selected as a Finalist in PDN/National Geographic Traveler’s World in Focus travel photography contest. The Brazilian Consulate General of New York sponsored an exhibition of his work in 2007. He is a member of The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).
